Pushkar Guest House has a variety of rooms to suit all budgets. There are hot showers, and a rooftop restaurant (the BEST breakfasts in Pokhara with great crusty brown bread!) overlooking the lake and with awesome views of sacred "Machhapuchare".

Krishna speaks many languages including fluent Japanese and English, and is very knowledgable about trekking.

The Puskar Guest House has its own Carrom Board.

Carrom is a national obsession and a fantastic way of meeting other travelers. Many enjoyable hours are spent on the rooftop playing carrom with friends.

You are also welcome to play your own music on the rooftop stereo.

Pokhara is the natural base for many different mountain treks, but also has local attractions to keep you occupied while waiting to start your trek. As the lake is central, it is the primary drawcard and you can hire one of the colourful paddleboats and row acrodd to the island, or to the far side where there are tea-houses.

You can leave your boat and walk up to the Peace Stupa, built recently at the top of the range on the far side of the lake. Their are spectacular views back across the lake, over Pokhara itself, and all the way to the Annapurnas, with the dominant figure of Machhapuchare overseeing all.

Hire a bike and ride out to Devi Falls, at the Dam end of the lake. Here the fast-flowing overflow of the lake plunges down into a vast and eerie subterrainian chasm. This area is also home to the Tibetan village and is a great place to sit and bargain with the many women who sell jewellry, trinkets and a variety of other interesting goods here.

Across the road and you'll find a cave, where you can go right down into the earth, and if you're lucky,  be blessed by a Monk who resides down there.

You can take a bus out to Rupa Tal (Lake) where it is far from the hustle of Pokhara and a lovely, peaceful place to explore. Notice the farms and houses on the way, and the different perspective on the mountain views.

You might like to climb the local "lookout" Sarangkot. Leave yourself plenty of time as it's no pushover. Best way is to head up in the afternoon, find a warm guest-house near the top and stop for dinner and book a room overnight. Then head up to the peak for the most spectacular sunset. Whatever you do, don't forget your camera!

Then in the morning, head up again at sunrise. Enjoy some breakfast somewhere on the way back down and return to Pushkar Guest House for lunch, where you can relax on the rooftop and see where you've just been! You'll have a bit of an idea what to expect while trekking now.
